Camille Jacquet is a relatively new brand from the long-standing house of the illustrious Jean Pernet. We’re talking about access to over 40 acres of vines – spread across the greatest chardonnay communes of the Côte des Blancs… such as Le Mesnil, Vertus, Chouilly, Oger, Epernay… yes! That’s one heck of a list of top Champagne Crus! 

Maison Jean Pernet is a Champagne icon that has been growing grapes since the 17th century, with their base in perhaps our favorite section of Champagne’s Côte des Blancs, the illustrious Le Mesnil Sur Oger. This label is a perfect example of how a Champagne (or really any wine) can be tricky to decipher – the “À” before Le Mesnil Sur Oger only denotes that the wine is made and bottled there, and while there are certainly Le Mesnil chardonnay grapes in the final product, they are joined by this epic collection of other top vineyards as well! This is a simply beautiful snapshot of 100% chardonnay from the best sites in the Côte des Blancs, at a price that has left us stunned.

The wine pulses with creamy, baked apples, crisp pears, and a luxuriously rich mouthfeel that rolls into accents of bread dough, croissants, and candied lemon peel. It’s as fresh as the day is long with a sophisticated feel seamlessly interjected with spices and a lightly mineral finish. Remarkable stuff, especially at this price, and something I’ll be reloading up on immediately.
