Why We Love It...
What else can I say – 100% chardonnay from my very favorite spot in the world for the grape… you have my undivided attention. But then leave it for over 5 years on the lees, bottle it up, and let me share it with our most loyal Last Bubblers for the delightful price of under $30? That is a vibe… and I’m here for it.

If you’ve jumped at any of our earlier offers of Antoine Derigny, you know what I’m talking about. Why these bottles don’t cost twice as much is one of the more delightful mysteries in life. (Sure, that we direct import the wines straight from Champagne ourselves certainly helps, but still…) This absolutely titillating bottle of bubbly goodness is crafted by the Bernard Remy Champagne estate, with Bernard’s son, Rudy, steering the course of these wines since 2008. The estate is located in the village of Allemant on the Cóte de Blancs, not far from the big and bustling cities of Reims and Epernay. With 11 hectares of vines throughout Montagne de Reims (including the aforementioned Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger) Rudy thoughtfully composes his blends by weaving the flavors, textures, and aromatic complexities of prime lots of chardonnay into this brilliant bubbly.
A prolonged maturation of over 5 years on the lees grants weight and roundness to the penetrating and mineral characteristics of Le Mesnil’s classic limestone soil. A finishing dosage of 10 grams per liter (nearing the upper-limits of the Brut classification) brightens and exemplifies the beautifully rich orchard fruit character – and sculpts a lean and chiseled wine into a handsomely toned and flat out fit morsel that will have you salivating for more.
Chockablock with toasty and citrusy luminosity, and a veritable breadbasket of titillating flavors that range from sweet dough, toasty croissant, butter cookie, candied lemon, baked apple tarts, crisp Bartlett pears, fresh ginger, and lemon oil extract… there is simply tons going on in this bottle. Beautifully fresh, pure, and immensely satisfying – wherein the weight and texture is kept fresh and minerally throughout… tip your caps to Le Mesnil here, my friends! We only wish we had more of this Grand Cru Champagne at a price that can’t be beat.

About the Producer
After working from 1996 under his father his son Rudy took over in 2008 and has since expanded the business. Initially very small, with just a few vines of his own, the family business expanded at a steady clip. It is now comprised of 11 hectares in various locations which includes some highly reputed vineyards in the Grands Crus area of Mesnil-sur-Oger and in the Montagne de Reims area. They grow Chardonnay in the Cóte de Blancs and the Cóte de Sézannais, Pinot Noir in the Aube area and Meunier in the Vallée de Marne. The wines are produced in collaboration with Bernard Remy.
